Isn't it ridiculous how schools in the US put more focus on athletics than academics?

Well, I think that it really depends on how parents handle it. My Nephew plays both Baseball and Football for his high school team. He is also a straight "A" student because he knows that if he brings home less than that Mom and Dad won't let him play anymore.
