My Computer reboots when i try to add/remove programs?

i just did a clean install after a nasty virus deleted all my .sys files. Now im setting things up the way i want them and it wont let me uninstall IDM (Internet Download Manager) that came with the install of XP Professional. Everytime i begin the uninstall it reboots my pc.
