What are some different grants paying for higher education?

i know there are a few; scholarships (i don't qualify), loans (don't qualify)... so, what's left, if you are below poverty level? and, what if you have a serious misdemeanor conviction that is over 7 years old? will that keep me out of college? AZ. government officials claim there are no pardons given in this state. so, would i even have hope of getting any aid for higher education?
